[23:29:03] daniel micay [23:29:11] he was very, very involved with the rust community [23:29:14] really smart guy [23:29:32] but after some arguments [23:29:35] people got pissed at him [23:29:41] and he left [23:29:44] it was totally his fault [23:29:53] he doesn't know how to behave like an adult [23:30:04] ah [23:32:19] yeah, it doesn't matter how smart you are, you need to be able to interact with people lol [23:32:34] ehh that's subjective… [23:32:54] no, it's really not [23:32:54] software development is rarely an isolated effort [23:33:06] he make a lot of great contributions [23:33:13] but the fact he was so stubborn even when he was wrong [23:33:26] meant that he couldn't contribute anymore [23:33:31] if you're working all on your à la TempleOS, you can say whatever you want [23:33:42] but Rust has so many people involved... [23:34:21] ok, the "when he was wrong part" justifies his departure from the project then [23:34:35] whoa part should not be in the quoted… [23:35:10] if github search didn't suck you could probably find some of his comments on github.com/rust/rfcs [23:35:25] there were two big drama things that happened in the rust community [23:35:32] one was with daniel micay [23:35:40] the other was with a guy named mahkoh on github [23:35:52] mahkoh was also another really smart guy [23:36:00] but his comments got so abusive they had to delete them [23:36:04] and then lock the threads [23:36:08] dissallowing more comments [23:36:23] he said he was leaving rust at that point [23:36:46] and then he came back half a year later with his own version of the standard library (i think that's what it was) written in Rust [23:37:01] but he was somewhat more civil at that point, so it was fine [23:38:01] when was micay last involved? [23:38:24] from what i remember i think it was beginning of 2015? [23:38:26] not 100% sure [23:40:06] i could probably find all of the comments in my email [23:40:12] since i've subscribed to the repos [23:43:22] ya know, I'm not a fan of moving away from email to get work done… [23:45:02] there is definitely an art, practicality and un-ambiguation in email that doesn't really exist in message board-type threads like github [23:45:54] lil tangent, but it seems that drama forms far easier and quicker in message board-type threads than email.
